Canada - DURHAM -- Suspects rounded up this week in a sweeping drug bust include members and prospects of an outlaw biker gang, police say.
Project Kingfisher, undertaken by Durham police in conjunction with Peterborough police and the OPP's biker enforcement unit, resulted in the arrests of 28 suspects and the seizure of drugs including heroin, cocaine and marijuana. Among those arrested was Harley Guindon, 26, of Oshawa, who faces charges including trafficking cocaine and heroin. Mr. Guindon, identified by police as a Hells Angels prospect, was convicted of assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement and extortion with a firearm in 2007 and sentenced to five years in prison. The charges related to a drug debt, court heard at the time.
Clarington resident Joshua Galante, 30, also facing drug trafficking charges, is a Hells Angels prospect, while Shawn Campbell, 51, of Oshawa, facing drug and weapons charges, is a full patch member of the gang, police said.
