| What's your question? |
Exhaust pops when accelorating in second and all the time when slowing down or throtteling off.
|
| Details: |
I am looking to buy and test rode this today
When in second gear and I opened it up the exhaust started to pop and then the bike went like hell. When I throttled off it pops likes hell all the time.
The exhaust I think does not have any baffles.
Is it the air mixture on the carb?
Is it the timing?
The exhaust shield gets hot and burns the leg.
Is this normal, or to do with the problem?

Answers:
- sounds like the mixture is too lean...not a good way to go...if you are too rich, the worst that will happen is you foul your plugs and waste gas....too lean can lead to really bad damage from over heating...jmho...good luck... By: bikernerd99 on: 5-21-2008
- Every combustion engine needs reversion . (back pressure) The popping ya get is sucking air or mixed burnt fuel going back into the piston thru your valves. Not good.Get ya self some baffles or change out exhaust. If they have beeen on there long time ya might need to de carbon the head and valves.Costly procedure when ya can put in 20 dollar baffles and make it run rioght...
Just some advice. If ya like it ya can keep it,If ya dont like it send back my way i will keep it. By: dirtyundies on: 6-11-2008
