| What's your question? |
noise from motor
|
| Details: |
noise from motor sounds like one of the pushrods is out of adjustment but none of them are. replaced the lifters and rocker arms and still have the noise. dont notice it at an idle but just start to roll on the throttle and can hear it hammer down and it goes away until back off throttle |
Answers:
- Buy yourself a mechanic's stethoscope. They're not an expensive item. You'll be able to dial in where the noise is really coming from a lot easier. Sometimes noises will travel from other places. Once you have a better idea of where the noise is actually coming from...you can better diagnose your problem. By: 47Knuckle-Dragger on: 5-30-2007
- in the old days we used to put a long wooden handled screwdriver on the engine and stick ya ear on the handle. dont suppose ya can get them these days. By: biggles on: 5-31-2007

- Yeah, the "good-ol' days"...when you could put a long-handled screwdriver up to your ear...then stick the blade of the screwdriver into the fan because your eyes can't see 90 degrees to the side of your head! By: 47Knuckle-Dragger on: 5-31-2007

- Did ya change the cam bearing when ya did the cam swap? Did ya use a Torrington bearing? The Ina bearing HD uses are junk and need to be replaced often. Torrington bearings are the best. By: pb68slab on: 6-3-2007
