backfired and then shut off and wont start?

i was rideing home from work filled up gas tank and started home my bike backfired and stopped running.now it wont start or turn over. |
Answers:
- i could be wrong ,but i dont think you will get much of an answer on a mainly harley site. from the sound of it your bike is in deep shit . By: biggles on: 7-15-2007
- Do you have fuel to the carb? do you have power to your coil? do you have spark at the spark plug(s)? If any answer is no, there is your problem.

- We are not trying to hurt your feelings, It is just you don't take a toyota to a dodge mechanic. A big back fire usually means one of two things lean fuel mix or bad timing. Check to make sure that you do not have any air leaks around the crab or fuel injection site. Also check your timing. It does take a 13 to 1 rice to air mixture though. Just kidding.
