| What's your question? |
Trying to change the stator, is there anyway to do this without taking off the inner primary?
|
| Details: |
the inner primary has a recess that makes room for the rotor, but also appears to restrict the removal of the rotor and coil |
Answers:
- No. Section 8-23 in your 78½-1984 factory service manual. You DO have a manual, right? I also suggest you wash the clutch plates and give the fiber discs a light sanding to remove any glazing. I usually put a 10"x12" piece of 80-grit on a piece of glass and move the discs in a circular motion. In a pinch...you can use a cinder block or the sidewalk. Also, check the tranny mainshaft support bearing while you have the inner primary off and buy a new o-ring for the inner primary-to-engine seal.
And...uh...disconnect the battery first. By: 47Knuckle-Dragger on: 3-13-2010
