What's your question? tankgas cap venting issues with an old peanut tank. unsure of the date on the tank. screw in bung
Details: I just put an old peanut tank on my fxe and appears not to be venting. With the cap screwed in it forces fuel out of the carb (super b). The tank was bought used and came with cap however the thin metal line coming out of the bottom of the tank has been sealed shut. Should i drill it back open? My limited understanding is that the tube is used to vent over flowvapors in to a canister and back into the air filter (which i am not doing). I did add a decorative spinner to the top of the cap, could that have pooched things up? The valve inside the cap seems to depress ok, just not sure how to go about solving the pressure build up issue. can post pics on the board if it would be helpful. Thanks

  2. actually the real answer is that it is a result of old Cal EPA shit. The vent from the tank used to go to a canister to trap fumes and recycle into the filter. The cap has a one way valve in it to force air in as the tank went down in volume, but would not release pressure built up from heat. Solution: 1/8" drill bit and drill out the relief valve in the cap. By: beau on: 7-8-2010

  3. hey beau, the cap should vent on its own, if you added a component, try taking your add on off. or while its apart just take a air nozzle blower and blow the vent out. you can even take them apart. then re-assemble and check. there should be no in tank pressure build up. 4. As Beau says, the cap and tank are a unit. The tube that's been plugged used to go to a charcoal canister that collected the fumes (CA EPA)...then onto a line into the air filter to displace the air volume itself. The cap, as he states, is a one-way vent from the atmosphere. Applying a decorative to the cap does nothing to restrict that process. Drilling out the vent with a small sized bit so that it becomes two-way is the correct solution. By: 47Knuckle-Dragger on: 7-8-2010
