| What's your question? |
Replaced front brake swith and I'm still having brake light problems. Could it be the brake relay?
|
| Details: |
Brake Light Stays on (I just replaced the Front Brake Light Switch) prior to replacing the front brake light switch the brake light would go on when depressing the foot brake pedal, when I engaged the front handle bar front brake the brake light would not go on, hence I replaced the front brake switch.
Note last week while on a run the guy following me told me my brake light was on continually, while my bike was on the kick stand I turned on the ignition switch but did not start the motor and depressed both the back brake pedal and the front brake and the brake light would go on and off as it should. When I got home I tried the same test with my bike running, in neutral, and when engaging the front brake the brake light would not go on, when depressing the rear brake pedal the brake light goes on.
As I stated above I replaced the front brake switch, did the wiring slice properly, reassembled the throttle cables, reassembled the switch assembly, (yes installed my 5/32 spacer at the brake lever as per figure 8-71 on page 8-54)

Answers:
- When I first changed my front switch as it had burnt out, it too, did not work properly. Check to be sure that the arm (in the brake lever) that depresses the switch is in line with the button. Mine was not; I moved it over and now it works fine. This may be your problem. Good luck. By: 808Wes on: 7-24-2010
