| What's your question? |
Does anyone else have a problem with tail-light bulbs in side-mount license plate brackets?
|
| Details: |
I got an internally grounded softail-style side mount license plate bracket and it periodically blows bulbs. I've checked the wiring for open circuits and the continuity is good, so I've ruled that out. So far I've chalked the whole thing up to vibration, but maybe someone has an idea on how to increase the life on my bulbs. |
Answers:
- Usually, those plate-mounts bolt directly to the frame. With a rigid frame you're just askin' to shake that incandescent element loose when it's white hot.
My suggestion is to search around for an LED replacement unit, or find a way to insulate the bulb from the vibration, even if you have to provide its ground with a extra wire. By: 47Knuckle-Dragger on: 8-18-2006
