Make of Bike: Harley Davidson
Model of Bike FXDWG Wide Glide
Year of Bike 1994
Engine Size 80
Other info on Bike 65,000 miles. It's always ran great.
What's your question? Is there a way to bench test the ignition module, the VOES, and coil? Put 250 miles on last weekend. It died 3 times on the way home, but now won't start at all. No spark.
Details: I am not showing any power to the ignition coil so I don't think that is the problem. Trying to track backwards, I am not sure how to test the other ignition components. Any help would be appreciated.

  1. word of advice...invest in a H-D FACTORY service manual...they have some really good troubleshooting procedures in the ignition section... By: bikernerd99 on: 9-1-2010

  2. I tried the jumper wire idea and got no spark. Does that prove the ignition sensor is good? I have a Harley shop manual. I couldn't find anything about bench testing an ignition sensor. Under "Troubleshooting" bike won't start, all it says it "check ignition module, check ignition coil, check ignition sensor" but I can't find anything about HOW to check these components.
