ignition won't shut off. turn off and bike keeps running. dirty terminals somewhere?

Answers:
- Sounds more like you are diseling, meaning you have a run cheap gas, or don't ride very far at one time. and built up carbon in your heads or on your piston. Take your bike out for a good long hard ride. burn some good gas, see if that does not help clear up the problem. Check your timing also. By: Mark_Goff on: 9-15-2006
- I run it hard as I live 14 miles from town and run 70-80 all the time. No its running smooth when you turn key off but its as theres no contact or maybe a bad switch. local HD dealer never heard of problem before. Thanks for reply By: scootercool on: 9-16-2006
- It's possable that the starter solinoid may be shorted, disconect the neg batt cable, does bike shut off, if so check all start and batt wires, if good try a solinoid rebuild kit. By: 2wheel on: 10-15-2006
- as 2 wheel on says it can be a starter prob as when this happens with a car it can be down to a faulty starter motor By: biggles on: 1-15-2007
