Switching from CV to Mikuni 45 carb. Motor is stock. Am I gonna be choking the carb with stock petcock or should I switch to a hi flow one like pingle?

Answers:
- Pingel petcocks are great, but the stock Harley petcock is going to be fine.

- The 88 can only pull so much fuel, regardless of what carb you stick on it. Stock petcock is fine. If you need to change it for some reason (say a bad diaphragm) then it makes sense to put on a Pingel to allow for future motor expansion. BTW - Why change the stock carb? Nothing wrong with Mikunis and I use them on some builds, but CVs are great carbs... A properly tuned CV is just as fast as a Mikuni, and damn near as crisp, especially on a stock motor. - Planning on motor changes over winter. Had nothing but problems with this carb since I got it. Was going to rebuild again but I was planning on getting the Minuki anyway so figured why wait. By: Ryn on: 9-3-2011
- How big are you planning o building, I'm over 100" and run a 42 with no issues and keep the accel pump turned off... the 45 is a lot of carb for a stocker ad even a 96" build... By: apehangeralfy on: 9-4-2011
- Was gonna go with the 42 but was talked into the 45 by a couple different people that swear by them. Not sure on size yet at least 95 but bigger depends on the funds. Got the carb already so kinda late to worry about the woulda and shoulda. Now only problem is getting it to set in the stock manifold. Says its a tight fit but I feel like I am going to break something. By: Ryn on: 9-4-2011
- The 45 uses a different seal ring (the seal between the carb and the manifold). By: Guest on: 9-5-2011
