In '94 HD made 3 bikes, all different, requiring different parts, but with almost the same designation. FXR, FXDL,FXLR.....

How to find parts....

I've now gotten 2 outter primary covers for my bike from J&P. Neither fit, and now they tell me, after hrs. on the phone, that the parts are all discontinued. Kunckledragger posted a site with Harley parts catalogs, but that site is gone...any ideas on how to find parts for a 1994 FXLR Custom (factory) would be much appreciated. |

- Well, that question was clear as mud. The thing is, my "94 FXLR came out at the same time HD was introducing the Dynas, so there's a Dyna lowrider with a F.Bob tank, then there's the end of the line of the FXRs, and then mine, the FXLR. The '94 FLT has the same primary as the FXLR, but it's diff. from the straight FXRs and very different from the Dynas. So the guy at J&P gave me an odd part number that didn't quite match..he said the parts are discontinued..and he claims that's because in '94, HD was changing models.
I know there must be some parts out there somewhere, but I keep being told that they've been discontinued. However...HD made an FXR2 and an FXR3 in 1999-2000. They seem to 'look' the same...how can I find out if those parts could fit? Where is another place to look? I've tried J&P and Jihreh, and HD(as far as I could get not being an emplolyee) and no one seems to have an answer. That FXLR isn't so rare or so shitty that parts just evaporated, did they? - if you are still stuck, phone warrs [harley dlrs in london[oldest dealer in uk ] or e mail them, they specialise in really old parts let alone 94 they may have the answer. it seems a bit extreme to do that if you are in the states but over here we seem to be able to get anything for a harley back to 1904. if they have it they will ship it to you . cheers . biggles. uk By: biggles on: 12-23-2006
