Answers:
- Using liquid-gasket material in a "pinch" sometimes gets you into trouble. But, we'll let you experience that for yourself.
As far as product goes, you can buy a "great" gasket seal from the Honda parts department. It's called Hylomar®. Google it.
As far as a torque pattern goes, just tighten down each cylinder base nut a little at a time, then a final torque of 32-40 foot pounds. I'm presuming you're doing this to the front cylinder--as it's close to impossible to raise the rear cylinder & head enough to even get the old gasket off.
Were it MY engine...I'd pull the head; lift the barrel high enough on the piston to remove one wrist pin clip; push the wrist pin out of the connecting rod and remove the barrel and piston as a unit. Replace the base gasket; slip the barrel and piston back over the connecting rod; push the wrist pin back through--and insert a NEW wrist-pin keeper, then slide the barrel back onto the cases. Install a new head gasket...and you're good to go.
