A source for a replacement regulator / stator plug and socket?
|
| Details: |
One of the pins of the regulator plug burns off. The third time in 3 years. I replace both the stator and regulator last time but it happened again. Is there a source for replacements plugs and sockets. Has anyone had experience and luck of running stator wires outside the case and soldering on an different type of connection? |
Answers:
- Can't help too much on the rewiring, but next time make sure to use some of that electrical grease, and be sure to use a retaining clip. sounds like your plug is getting moisture, and or pulling part way out creating too much resistance and burning everything up. I have seen too many bikes in the past that did not have a retaining clip and the same thing happend to them. By: Mark_Goff on: 2-12-2007
- Had grease when it was installed and also clip to keep it in. I agree the cause was possible moisture. Is there any connectors available so I won't have to replace both stator and regulator? Or another type of fix? By: bobp on: 2-13-2007
- Three times in 3 years tells me it's not the H-D design...it's something you're doing to the connection. More than likely it's pressure-washing that's eating into your connection.
Try not to point the pressure washer at THAT connection...and the wheel bearings. By: 47Knuckle-Dragger on: 2-13-2007
