Australia - ~'I want to slit your throat', angry father tells murderer~

AN ANGRY father has stared at his daughter's murderer in court - telling him he wanted to slit his throat.

Dan Jones today told the Supreme Court his daughter, Natasha, had been so brutally bashed her "body was beyond recognition".

Mr Jones was due to read his victim impact statement to the court, but instead stared at Edward Christopher Yost, 46 - the man charged with his daughter's murder - and said: "I just want to slit your f...ing throat."

He was led from the court, returning later to hear a court staffer read his statement.

"I hope that you get what's coming to you, and more," he said.

"You are a woman killer, a murderer - you are the lowest of the low.

"No parent should have to lose a child and never in such a dreadful way as this."

Specific details of the murder have not been revealed in court.

Yost, a former Rebels Motorcycle Club member, had previously pleaded guilty to one count of murder, one count of gross indecency and 10 counts of unlawful sexual intercourse.

In January 2007, Ms Jones was found dead in a house on Sleep Rd, Para Hills.

The court heard she and Yost had been in a violent relationship for about a year, with Ms Jones taken to hospital several times.

He had videotaped some of the assaults, with prosecutors seeking to show Justice Michael David a 50-minute recording of some of the assaults taking place.

Police began searching for Yost immediately and raided the western suburbs clubrooms of the Rebels Motorcycle Gang.

A month later, in one of the longest sieges in state history, Yost locked himself inside a Campbelltown house and held police at bay until he was allowed to speak to his lawyer.

Yost also repeatedly sexually assaulted a girl, who cannot be named, on multiple occasions between March 2001 and December 2002.

The assaults began when the girl was 15 and continued past her 16th birthday.

In her victim impact statement, Dianne Phillips, Natasha's mother, told the court she was unable to properly say goodbye to her daughter.

"I longed to hold her hand and say `it's going to be all right', but I wasn't permitted to be in the same room as her," Ms Phillips said.

"Not being able to say goodbye is my biggest and most painful regret."

She said her grandson, Natasha's son Josh, constantly missed his mother.

"The more that he has to share and celebrate, he will know that his mum isn't there to share it with him."

David Edwardson, for Yost, said his client should not be given a "crushing" non-parole period.

He said it would give his client "a very real incentive to focus a long, long time down the track at the prospect of being released."

Justice David sentenced Yost to life in prison, and will set a non-parole period next month.
