Australia - Police have charged a Gold Coast man with murder following the discovery of a skeleton in a bush grave eight years ago.
Darren John Britza was found buried under a bridge at Biddadaba Road in Boyland, on the Gold Coast hinterland by two fishermen who stumbled across his remains in March 2001.
The case went cold until 2008, when advancements in technology allowed investigators to retrieve data from a damage mobile phone SIM card found in Mr Britza's jeans pocket.
A 35-year-old man from Nerang was charged with one count of murder this afternoon.
He was located at Labrador this morning and had submitted voluntarily to police questioning.
It follows a public appeal for help and the use of new laser imaging equipment to search a series of sheds formerly leased by outlaw motorcycle gangs for alleged drug distribution and car rebirthing, police say.
Mr Britza moved to the Gold Coast from Western Australia before his death and was known to associate with bikies linked to the sheds.
