Australia - BIKIE leader Sam Ibrahim was arrested for breach of bail conditions and has been arrested over his alleged malicious damage of a camera outside a Sydney jail.

Hassad "Sam" Ibrahim was arrested at 4pm today and taken to Merrylands Police Station.

The oldest member of the infamous family was arrested after allegedly damaging a camera belonging to a TV camerman outside Long Bay Jail yesterday afternoon.

It is the latest public drama for the family whose most recognisable member is nightclub entrepreneur John Ibrahim.

Ibrahim, 43, a former Nomads bikie boss, had been walking through the media at the gates of Long Bay waiting for his younger brother Fadi, who won his release on $1 million bail on charges of plotting a retaliation murder.

The altercation with the cameraman was captured on camera and made it onto news programmes last night.

Detectives with Strike Force Raptor will allege that Ibrahim was in breach of his bail conditions from a previous offence.

Sam Ibrahim, arrested at a home in Merrylands, was taken to Merrylands Police Station where he remains. Police say charges are expected to be laid.

As he left Long Bay yesterday, Fadi Ibrahim kissed his brother Sam on the cheek and embraced bodyguard Semi Ngata, known as Tongan Sam, before getting into a black Mercedes that had been permitted just inside the gates and driving off.

Fadi was shot five times while sitting in his Lamborghini with his girlfriend Shayda Bastani outside his home in June.

He had been in custody since September 24 charged with conspiracy to murder over an alleged plot to kill a man he mistakenly believed tried to kill him.

He had been fighting for bail since his arrest in September, arguing he was not getting the proper medical treatment in jail for the extensive injuries he suffered when shot.

As part of his bail conditions, Fadi was banned by the court from communicating with youngest brother Michael, one of his co-accused in the conspiracy to murder plot.

They, together with Rodney Atkinson, Amerigo Gerace and Jim Said Habkouk, are charged with conspiring to murder John Macris, 37, who is not suspected of, nor has been charged with, any offence alleged to be linked to the shooting of Fadi.

Sam Ibrahim arrived at Long Bay in the black Mercedes with others including Tongan Sam.

As the group approached the jail gatehouse, Sam Ibrahim allegedly knocked a television camera to the ground, smashing it.

Police have taken statements from the cameraman, who was contracted by the Nine Network, and Sam Ibrahim, who then entered the jail grounds to wait for his brother.
