~Hemet police remain alert after 24-hour period passes~
Hemet police say a threat on officers in the San Jacinto Valley during a 24-hour period has passed, but officers remain on high alert.
The Riverside County sheriff's Department reported hearing of a threat Friday evening to blow up a "black and white" patrol vehicle somewhere in the Hemet and San Jacinto area in the following 24 hours, Hemet police Lt. Mark Richards said.
The warning was broadcast over police radio airwaves about 6 p.m. Friday where it was first heard by Hemet police detectives. It's still unclear where the threat originated or if it was credible, Richards said.
The threat was not directed to Hemet police specifically, but Hemet police treated the threat as real and increased security measures and patrols... Continue
