Australia - ~Police officers' personal details divulged to bikie lawyers~

POLICE have been forced to admit they left the personal details - real names and actual addresses - of two police officers in the brief of evidence given to 11 members of the Comanchero bikie gang charged over the fatal airport brawl in March.

DPP solicitor Kate Nightingale told Sydney's Central Local Court that she had been informed by detectives that the personal details of witnesses known as number 122 and 125 had been inadvertently left in the briefs of evidence served on the Comanchero accused.

"They are actually names and addresses of officers, included by mistake," she said.

Ms Nightingale asked counsel for some of the men John Korn if he would ensure the document was destroyed.

However Mr Korn refused, saying he knew nothing of it but vowed it would not fall into the hands of any of his clients.

"Sometimes we have to wear the consequences of our mistakes," Mr Korn said.

It is the second time the case surrounding the alleged murder of Anthony Zervas has been mired in a clerical error.

Earlier this year, a Hells Angels bikie was handed the names and addresses of 47 members of the rival Comanchero gang in an accidental mix-up at the court.

With the airport case limping toward a committal hearing early next year, a court yesterday also heard suggestions by the magistrate that a Comanchero witness may not give evidence for the Crown.

Mr Korn said it was the first he had heard of it, and told the court: "They got a version that doesn't suit them, so they don't want to use him."

Magistrate Allan Moore told the parties at the mention this afternoon that a purpose-built dock would have to be constructed at the Penrith court house for any committal hearing, with a specially-allocated magistrate appointed to hear the case.

It returns to court on November 16.
