California - ~Oakland Hells Angels Say Farewell To Longtime Member~
OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Hells Angels said goodbye to one of their longtime members on Friday.
A funeral service was held in Oakland for Deakon Proudfoot, of the Oakland chapter of the Hells Angels. He was with the motorcycle group for 40 years.
It's said Proudfoot died on the 4th of July. He reportedly watched the fireworks show in Jack London Square, walked off a boat, sat down to catch his breath, smiled and then died.
His given name was Edward Proudfoot, but was called Deakon because he served as chaplain for the group.

Deakon was one of a kind and his loss is irreplaceable. He had this ability to project an unvelievable presence without effort; it was just who he was. I first met him in the late 1970s when he hooked up with Waylon Jennings. I am no small person, but he was huge. His tattoos on his inner forearms were also, what you say, "unique." Last year the Oakland cops shot his dog in an outrageous breach. Like when Way passed, there's no way to replace him. An American Original. RIP.
