United Kingdom - Hells Angels were more heavenly than their name suggests when they donated £1,000 to armed forces charity Help for Heroes.

Members of Thames Valley Coalition Motorcycle Group met outside the Reading Wessex chapter's headquarters in St Peter's Road, Earley, on Saturday to hand over the cash.

They have spent the year fundraising and decided to give it to Help for Heroes, the group's chosen charity for 2009.

Biker Ian Parkyn, from Southcote, said Help for Heroes' representative Ian Baldry – who accepted the cheque in Earley – was enormously grateful for the bikers' support.

Mr Parkyn, 49, who works as a supervisor at a hire company, said: "The coalition meet up once a month and raise money for charity.

"We've been fundraising throughout 2009 and have taken part in pool and poker competitions and held parties.

"Help for Heroes is in the public eye and is an important cause.

"A lot of the bikers were in the armed forces and others have children who have served or are serving in Afghanistan."
