Griffin, Ga. - Windwalkers to hold Toy Run Saturday by Sheila A. Marshall2 days 10 hrs ago | 114 views | 0 | 2 | | The Griffin Chapter of the Windwalkers Motorcycle Club will hold its annual Toy Run Saturday afternoon.
"This will be our 19th Toy Run," said Windwalkers President Jesse Pritchard.
He said Windwalkers, which celebrated the Griffin Chapter's 22nd anniversary in June, holds the ride each year to offer assistance to needy children in the Spalding County community.
"We help The Salvation Army with the toys they need for Christmas and with the money we raise, the club helps more needy families," Pritchard said.
The Toy Run will originate in the Roses parking lot at 1108 Zebulon Road and will wind its way through Griffin.
"We're going to ride straight through town and go straight out to our clubhouse," Pritchard said. "Hopefully it will work out that we'll have good weather and a good ride."
Once the bikers arrive at the clubhouse, Pritchard said representatives will be on hand to collect the toys that are given as registration for the ride.
"After we give the toys to The Salvation Army, everything else will get going," he said. "We'll have door prizes and an auction, plus food. This year, we're having barbecue plates with stew, cole slaw and chips for $5 a plate."
Registration for the Windwalkers Toy Run begins at 1 p.m. and costs $10 or a new toy of that value. The police-escorted ride will leave at 2 p.m. and Pritchard said the clubhouse party will go on "until everything is taken care of." Share This Article:
