Second Texas deputy pleads guilty in meth ring

Texas - LUBBOCK, Texas - A former West Texas chief deputy sheriff has pleaded guilty to his part in a methamphetamine trafficking ring.

Gordon Clark Bohannon pleaded guilty to a conspiracy count Monday in federal court in Lubbock. Under terms of his plea deal, the 53-year-old former Hockley County chief deputy faces 10 years in prison and no fine.

Bohannon and 27 others were named in a July indictment that alleged a motorcycle gang took cash to Modesto, Calif., bought methamphetamine in bulk, the brought it to Levelland, about 30 miles west of Lubbock, for distribution.

The U.S. Justice Department says Bohannon and 39-year-old fellow Hockley County deputy Jose Jesus (hay-SOOS') Quintanilla (keen-tah-NEE'-yah) provided the gang with information that hindered efforts to shut....
