New Zealand - Nelson's newest gang, the Red Devils, is thought to have been eyeing up property in Brightwater for a base as its numbers start to grow, and police suspect that it is only a matter of time before the gang changes its colours to those of the notorious Hells Angels.
Nelson Bays police area commander Detective Inspector John Winter said the Red Devils had four patched members after emerging in Nelson in March, and another two "prospects" (prospective members) that police were aware of.
However, because one of the four members was on life parole for murder, he could not actively participate in the gang or associate with it, or he would breach the conditions of his parole, Mr Winter said.
