Phillipines - Three persons – including a police officer – were arrested here for allegedly raping a 16-year-old special child last week, police said Tuesday.
The police's Women and Child Protection Desk (WCPD) declined to name the suspects but said one of them was a police officer assigned at the Estrada public market here. The two other suspects were members of the police auxiliary group.
Superintendent Amelia Tugade, the WCPD provincial chief, said the alleged rape occurred on March 1 but they only learned about it recently when the girl's parents filed a complaint.
Based on investigation conducted by the police, the girl was caught stealing some items from a mall here.
