MICHIGAN CITY, MI - A female prison officer was arrested Tuesday morning for trying to smuggle a cell phone into the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City for an inmate.
Dawn L. Walker has been accused of misconduct and alleged class C felony trafficking with an offender, Indiana State Prison Superintendent William K. Wilson said.
Fellow prison guards found the contraband wrapped and hidden in what appeared to be oatmeal when Walker went through a routine search at 5:15 a.m. as she reported for duty at the prison.
Officers arrested and held Walker until the Indiana State Police arrived. State Police helped transporting Walker to LaPorte County Jail.
