New Zealand - Pubs and hotels on the route of a Nelson motorcycle rally are blackballing the event following gang threats.
Police are bracing themselves for an influx of hundreds of bikers from around the country, including members of the Hells Angels gang, for the Nelson Poker Run on Saturday.
A previously unknown group calling itself the Southern Skinheads threatened to burn down any pubs or motels the rival gang goes to, and the gang members off their bikes.
St John Ambulance, which has previously taken donations raised from the event - which is in its 8th year - has this year refused to accept any money.
The local committee chairman Dennis Creed says the decision was made at regional level, but a St John spokesperson declined to comment on the reasons.
