Canada - The decaying last vestige of a once-fearsome biker gang has a date with a wrecking ball.
Heavy equipment was slated to be on the scene Monday morning in St. Catharines to begin tearing down the cement-enforced bunker at 144 Oakdale Ave. that used to serve as a clubhouse for the notorious Outlaws motorcycle gang.
"Thank God. It's about time," said Elaine Benoit, who lives across the street from the dilapidated eyesore.
"I'm glad they're going to do something with it because it's sad to see it the way it is."
The crumbling two-storey red brick building that served as a national clubhouse for the Outlaws was seized by police in September 2002 as part of a provincewide crackdown on the gang.
