Australia - THE man who went on a murderous rampage in the CBD last year emptied his gun into his three victims, court documents have shown.

Christopher Wayne Hudson, 31, today pleaded guilty to the murder of 43-year-old father of three Brendan Keilar and the attempted murder of Sydney model Kaera Douglas and Dutch backpacker Paul de Waard.

He also pleaded guilty in the Magistrates' Court to unlawful imprisonment and intentionally causing serious injury.

Hudson - a former Hells Angel biker - shot Brendan Keilar, 43, three times at point-blank range and critically injured two others in the triple shooting on June 18 last year.

Keilar, a city lawyer and married father of three, died in the street in the bloodbath that left stunned city workers watching in horror at the corner of Flinders Lane and William Street just after 8am.

The good Samaritan was trying to help former Sydney model Kaera Douglas, who was being dragged from a taxi by her hair, when Hudson turned a gun on him.

Ms Douglas and another good samaritan, Dutch backpacker Paul de Waard, were also shot and suffered critical injuries.

Mr de Waard, then 25, was shot twice in the chest and abdomen and lost part of his lung. He was left clinging to life but survived the attack, returning to the Netherlands a month later a hero.

Ms Douglas, then 24, also survived her injuries.

Police today welcomed Hudson's guilty plea saying victims of the crime had been spared a traumatic trail.

"It is hoped that this guilty plea will spare witnesses, victims and Brendan Keilar's family the trauma of an extended trial," Detective Inspector Steve Clark of the Homicide Squad said.

Hudson last week pleaded guilty to a firearms charge over a separate shooting incident during a wild night out with AFL star Alan Didak.

The Collingwood footballer was in Hudson's Mercedes six days before the shooting when the confessed killer fired a handgun as they travelled across Melbourne's Bolte Bridge.

The pair had met earlier at the Spearmint Rhino strip club and they were heading to a Hells Angels club in Campbellfield, in Melbourne's north, when the volley of shots was fired.

Hudson appeared sullen in court today and spoke quietly when asked to enter a plea over the June 18 triple shooting.

He wore a dark grey pin-striped suit, white shirt and purple and pink patterned tie.

Magistrate Phillip Goldberg remanded Hudson in custody to appear for a directions hearing in the Victorian Supreme Court in June.

He will be sentenced next month.
