California - GLENDALE - A man died early this morning after he was shot in the chest while riding a motorcycle on a connector road leading to the Glendale 2 Freeway.

The man was identified as 30-year-old Manuel Vincent Martin of Venice, according to a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner. No autopsy has been performed, and the cause of death is unknown.

A man riding another motorcycle alongside Martin at the time was cooperating with police, Sgt. Tom Lorenz said. Lorenz confirmed that man was wearing a t-shirt related to the Mongols, a motorcycle gang with chapters throughout California and several other states.

Sergeant Lorenz said it was too early to tell whether Martin belonged to the Mongols.

"We won't be able to make any determination as to whether he was a member of an outlaw motorcycle gang," he said.
