MO - ALBANY, Mo. - A shooting that stemmed from an argument over a motorcycle repair bill last Saturday has an Albany man facing criminal charges.
The state charged Kristopher L. York, 23, with the felonies of first-degree assault and armed-criminal action for allegedly shooting Terry Ross on Saturday in Albany.
Mr. Ross, from Maryville, sustained a single gunshot wound in the right leg and was taken to Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Thursday, Marcy George, a spokeswoman for the center, said she couldn't confirm that Mr. Ross was a patient.
Associate Circuit Court Judge Ed Manring arraigned Mr. York and granted a motion Wednesday to reduce the $50,000 bond to $15,000, allowing Mr. York to live with a family member in Columbia, Mo.
The shooting incident occurred Saturday at Mr. York's residence in Albany.
Mr. Ross drove to Albany to discuss payment on repairs to a motorcycle frame, Mr. Lupfer said. The two men argued about payment and Mr. York, who had a leg in a cast, allegedly took out a 9 mm pistol and fired several shots to keep Mr. Ross from leaving with the frame, the sheriff said. As the argument continued, Mr. York allegedly fired another bullet that struck Mr. Ross, Mr. Lupfer said. The defendant is ordered to return to Albany for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Nov. 19.
